Hematological diseases serve as a vital "experimental field" for the development of new drugs and treatment methods. Numerous innovative therapies are rooted in hematology research, with advanced technologies such as tumor-targeted therapy, cell immunotherapy, and gene therapy all originating from the treatment of hematological conditions. The Institute of Hematology and Blood Diseases Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (IHCAMS), was the first specialty hospital in China dedicated to both patient care and scientific research in hematology, serving as an educational center for hematologists across the country. Over the years, IHCAMS has conducted the most clinical trials of new drugs for hematological diseases in China. Notably, there are hundreds of ongoing trials on cell and gene therapy products at our hospital. Self-developed by IHCAMS teams, China's first CAR-T product for refractory adult B-ALL was approved in 2023, and the first gene therapy product for hemophilia in Asia was approved in 2025. Featuring 14 clinical centers and 1,500 beds covering both pediatric and adult hematology, IHCAMS now is the largest treatment center for blood diseases in the world. IHCAMS has consistently ranked as the top specialty hospital for both clinical care and scientific impact in hematology in China for the past 14 and 11 years, respectively. The International Workshop on Cell and Gene Therapy aims to provide fundamental, clinical, and translational courses for early career researchers and physicians across the Belt and Road countries. The traineeship offers a two-weeks program covering courses in cellular therapy and gene therapy for hematologic diseases such as hematologic malignancies and thalassemia, immunotherapies for hematologic and other diseases, and spatial-temporal omics in blood disease research.
