Professor Feng is dedicated to advancing the diagnostic system for infectious diseases in patients with hematological disorders and optimizing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) protocols. To date, he has published 153 research papers as the first or corresponding author, including 66 SCI-indexed articles and 8 publications in top-tier journals such as Cell, Journal of Infection, and Clinical Infectious Diseases. Additionally, he has supervised over 30 doctoral students.
Professor Feng's key research contributions include:
(1) Developing and optimizing the diagnosis and treatment framework for infections in hematological patients, particularly through: Standardizing the clinical application of metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) in China; Establishing an early-warning system for drug-resistant bacterial infections; Optimizing infection prevention and treatment strategies; Identifying novel therapeutic targets through fundamental research. These advancements have provided a critical theoretical foundation and technical framework for improving the management of infectious complications in hematologic malignancies worldwide, thereby enhancing clinical outcomes.
(2) Beyond infectious diseases, Professor Feng has also conducted in-depth research on graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), including: Systematically evaluating transplantation outcomes and prognostic factors in patients with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and aplastic anemia (AA); Exploring innovative approaches to mitigate GVHD through both basic and clinical research.
His findings have significantly influenced clinical guidelines, particularly in areas such as: Standardized mNGS implementation; Empirical antibiotic therapy for febrile neutropenia; Optimal antimicrobial treatment duration. Professor Feng's research is recognized as internationally competitive, with some aspects achieving global leadership in the field.
