Fang Dong is a Research Professor (Principal Investigator) and Doctoral Supervisor at the Institute of Hematology & Blood Diseases Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS). She also serves as an Assistant Professor at CAMS and is a recipient of the National Natural Science Foundation of China's "Excellent Young Scientists Fund" Program. She is a Committee Member of the Hematological Physiology Branch of the Chinese Association of Physiological Sciences.

After obtaining her Ph.D. under the mentorship of Professor Tao Cheng in 2014, she has been engaged in scientific research, focusing primarily on hematopoietic stem cell biology, with particular expertise in utilizing single-cell technologies to investigate the regulatory mechanisms of hematopoietic stem cell regeneration. Currently, she leads sub-projects under the National Key R&D Program and General Program projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. She identified the hematopoietic stem cells with super transplantability by serial transplantation and mathematic modeling, and proposed the strategy to mitigate the impairment of cryproservation on cord blood stem cells by anti-oxidants treatment. Her research findings have been published as corresponding (including co-corresponding), or co-first author in journals such as Nature Cell Biology, Blood, and the Journal of Clinical Investigation. She is also dedicated to training young scientists.
